Building review
The primary building permit commonly evaluates plans against adopted building and zoning rules, but requirements differ by jurisdiction and project.
Trade permits
Electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire-protection work may require separate applications, licensed contractors and inspections.
Inspections and corrections
Approved plans do not eliminate field inspections. Corrections may require revised documents, responses or additional professional review.
Certificate of occupancy
New uses, major renovations and changes in occupancy may require final agency approvals before the space can lawfully open.
